Berhampur: As many as 447 Olive Ridley hatchlings out of 452 eggs which were collected on February 17 and 18, have been released to sea on Tuesday. The release was scheduled today morning at the Balianla turtle segment.
Similarly, on Monday, 524 Olive Ridley hatchlings out of 544 eggs (5 nests), which were collected on February 16, 17 and 18, were released to the sea at Siandi Turtle Segment.
Over the last two months, the Forest Department personnel had provided safe and hospitable accommodation for the eggs for hatching at the sea beach in Krushnaprasad. Total 971 Olive Ridley turtles were released into the sea in two days.
