Puri: As Puri gears up to host the grand carnival of the ‘Holy Trinity’ – the Rath Yatra, Odisha Police have made elaborate security bandobast in and around the Pilgrim Town, for the smooth conduct of the festival.
By Wednesday afternoon, the final rounds security drills were completed. IG Police, Soumendra Priyadarshi said, “All security angles have been explored and we have taken full-proof measures to ensure that the Rath Yatra is incident-free and experienced by the devotees in a convenient manner,” he said.
“Traffic management, crowd control and VIP security will be our priority,” he added. The following senior police officers have been designated for security during Rath Yatra:
General Police Arrangement – Additional DGP Sanjeeb Panda, Railways – Additional DGP Pranabindu Acharya; Traffic Management – IG Police Amitabh Thakur; Arrangement at the Temple – IG Police Soumendra Priyadarshi; Crowd Management – Asheet Panigrahi; and Cordon Arrnagement – Arun Bothra.
Total 155 platoon force including 15 SP & Commandent level officers, 39 Additional SP ranked officers, 80 DSP ranked officers, 110 Inspector ranked officers, 650 SIs and ASIs, 2,400 Home Guards, two companies of RAF, 2 units of OBF, 2 units of ATS, 2 units of NIA, two unit of ODRAF and one unit of NDRF will be deployed in the security detail of the Rath Yatra this year.
