Kalahandi:  Rerun of Dana Majhi case. A woman's dead body was carried on a sling by her family members in Rampur block on Monday after Kaniguma health centre authorities allegedly refused to prove a hearse van.

The deceased has been identified as Nigidi Majhi of Balisara village.

Reportedly, she breathed her last while undergoing treatment in the health centre. When her husband asked for a hearse van, the authorities allegedly refused . Having no other option, the family members made a sling and carried the body for at least five kilometers in order to perform the last rites.

Meanwhile, Kalahandi CDMO immediately ordered a probe into the matter after visuals of the incident started doing rounds in social media.

In 2016, one Dana Majhi’s wife Amangdei succumbed to tuberculosis in Kalahandi. He had sought help but the hospital staff rebuffed him. Majhi had walked with the corpse on his shoulders for almost 12 km along and the story had caught worldwide attention.
