Bhubaneswar: The ugly practice of casting couch in glamour industry is nothing new. Despite several attempts to curb it, some producers always go back to the old ways of luring in a model with film/serial offers in exchange of sexual favours. One such incident has come to light in Bhubaneswar’s Saheed Nagar on Thursday.

Abinash Rout aka JD, a Mumbai-based film producer was arrested by Commissionerate police in connection with casting couch allegations levelled by a young woman.

As per sources, Rout operated a modeling studio in the heart of the city and allegedly tried to sexually assault the Cuttack-based woman by enticing her with a role in a web series and Rs 10,000 for one day’s shoot.

The woman told a news channel that she was asked to remove her clothes and deliver a dialogue naked in order to pass the audition test. Rout also told her that directors and producers will expect her to compromise in future and she should keep them happy by giving them what they want.

Rout was nabbed by police after the woman filed a police complaint. He was forwarded to court on Friday. Earlier, several film actors and directors of Ollywood have been accused of molesting young women on the pretext of offering them movie roles.
