Bhubaneswar: Senior journalist Ratikant Mohanty was remembered at a special condolence Meeting held at Geeta Govinda Sadan in Bhubaneswar. Prominent politicians, editors, journalists, and public figures paid their respects to the late journalist.
Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, who inaugurated the event, described Mohanty as a source of inspiration and praised his unique reporting style, honesty, and dedication to journalism. Former Finance Minister Praful Ghadai highlighted Mohanty’s soft-spoken nature and his ability to maintain good relations with politicians without seeking personal favours.
Other speakers, including senior Congress leader Niranjan Patnaik and former minister Srikant Jena, remembered Mohanty’s contributions to Odisha journalism and described his passing as an irreparable loss. The memorial service was organized by the Ratikant Memorial Committee, which was attended by several dignitaries, journalists, and Mohanty’s family members, including his daughters Puja Mohanty and Vandana Mohanty.
A memorial titled ‘Samstanka Priya Rati Bhai’ was unveiled, and a documentary film on Mohanty’s life was screened during the event. Speaker Surama Padhy assured that the Assembly would consider the suggestions made by the Rati Bhai Memorial Committee to perpetuate Mohanty’s memory.
