Bhubaneswar: A woman who was allegedly abducted by a truck driver near the Charampa Reserve Police Line under Bhadrak Town police limits late Wednesday night has been safely rescued from Keonjhar district. The accused driver has been arrested from the Jhumpura area of Keonjhar.
The arrested accused has been identified as Saddam Hussein, a native of Bihar currently residing in Keonjhar.
According to reports, the woman had taken shelter under the veranda of a roadside shop during heavy rain when a truck stopped nearby. The driver reportedly alighted from the vehicle, forcibly took the woman into the truck, and fled the scene. The incident was recorded on CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity.
Following a coordinated effort, police traced the vehicle and rescued the woman. She has been admitted to a medical facility and is currently undergoing treatment in the special care unit.
Further investigation is underway.
