Abhijit Iyer Mitra’s Anti-Odisha Remarks: House Committee To Submit Probe Report Tomorrow

**Bhubaneswar: ** As Abhijit Iyer Mitra has already been examined by the House Committee against his breach of privilege as well as anti-Odisha remarks and he has also submitted his deposition in shape of affidavit, the much-awaited report of House Committee will be placed in Odisha Assembly tomorrow on the inaugural day of Winter Session.

Informing media today, House Committee chairman and Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra said, “Breach of Privilege Notice was moved in the Assembly against Abhijit Iyer Mitra. Speaker had formed a House Committee to probe into the matter and submit report. The House Committee will submit its report tomorrow. Report has already been prepared.”

He added, “The report comprises all the statements recorded and deposition by all the persons examined related to the case.”
“Including today’s, the House Committee had six sittings on the case,” informed the Chairman.

Notably, Abhijit was summoned by the House Committee and deposed before it as well as apologized on October 23. Despite deadline, he had failed to submit his affidavit on November 2 following which he had been given a last chance to submit on November 3. On his first appearance, all his statements had been recorded by the House Committee.

Presently, Abhijit is lodged at Jharpada Special Jail here since his arrest by Commissionerate Police on October 23 itself soon after his deposition before the House Committee. In between, Konark Police had taken him on remand and he had been in judicial custody in Nimapara Sub-Jail.
