Bhubaneswar: Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Sunday provided an update on the health status of renowned music director and singer Abhijit Majumdar, who is currently admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar in critical condition.
Speaking to reporters, Minister Mahaling said that the medical team at AIIMS Bhubaneswar is closely monitoring Majumdar’s condition and following all treatment protocols.
“His vital organs, including the liver and kidneys, are functioning well, though he is yet to regain speech,” he said. The minister added that the doctors are doing their best to stabilise his condition.
“If required, we will consult with the team of doctors at AIIMS Delhi. A dedicated medical team will oversee his treatment moving forward,” Mahaling said. He also confirmed that Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has assured full financial support for Majumdar’s treatment.
“Tomorrow, I along with AIIMS Bhubaneswar Director and doctors, including specialists from AIIMS Delhi, will review his condition to decide whether he needs to be shifted to Delhi for advanced treatment,” he added.
The minister noted some improvement in Majumdar’s condition, stating that his urination has normalised and organ functions are stable.
Accompanying Minister Mahaling during the visit were Bhubaneswar (Ekamra) MLA Babu Singh and actor Sritam Das.
Majumdar was admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar on September 4 after his condition deteriorated following initial treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack. He slipped into a coma and is currently on ventilator support in the Central ICU under General Medicine. The singer and composer is battling multiple health issues, including hypertension, hyperthyroidism, liver disease, pneumonia, and severe lung infections.
