Bhubaneswar: Over 10 percent of polling was reported till 9 AM in the Urban Local Body (ULB) polls in Odisha while some disturbances were reported from a few places.
The start of polling was reportedly delayed at a few booths in Bhubaneswar, Athagarh, G.Udayagiri, Nuapada, and Malkangiri due to glitches in the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
The voting process was halted at booth-29 of Ward-19 in Basudevpur in Bhadrak district after 35 persons of 10 families allege their names are missing from the voters’ list.
In yet another case in Bhadrak, the husband of an independent candidate was detained for allegedly distributing cash among voters in Ward No-18 of Bhadrak Municipality. Town Police reportedly seized Rs 25,610 cash from his possession.
In Jharsuguda, tension erupted at booth-79 in Manmohan UP School after voters allege ‘polling agent is not a local resident’. On getting information, police reached the spot to bring the situation under control.
