Bhubaneswar: A whopping total of 1,493 sanctioned Faculty and Non-Faculty posts are lying vacant at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar.
This was revealed in a reply furnished by AIIMS, Bhubaneswar to a query sought by human rights activist Akhand under the Right To Information Act (RTI).
Sharing details of the vacancies, CPIO & Administrative Officer, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar DC Pattnaik has stated that as on April 30, 2022, out of 305 sanctioned Faculty posts 79 posts are vacant.
Similarly, as on April 30, 2022, out of the 3,876 sanctioned Non-Faculty posts 1414 posts are vacant, Pattnaik added.
The Non-Faculty filled posts include Senior Residents, Junior Residents, Regular, Deputation, Contractual and Out-Sourced personnel.
The reply clarified that vacant posts of Senior Residents and Junior Residents in the Non-Faculty list are getting filled up twice for PG Academic program and through open advertisement regularly, while that of other regular sanctioned posts in the Non-Faculty list are to be filled up through promotion from the feeder Grade and the same is not being filled up due to the non-availability of suitable officers at the feeder grade which may be filled up over the future years as per the present recruitment rules and Direct Recruitment quota posts are getting filled up through all India tests.
Akhand while expressing serious apprehension that such number of vacancies may affect provision of healthcare and teaching, has demanded immediate filling up of the vacancies.
