Bhubaneswar: A total of 9,91,929 applicants have applied for ration cards in Odisha, informed Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra in the State Assembly on Wednesday.
Responding to a query by BJD MLA from Dabugam Manohar Randhari, the Food Supplies Minister said that field verification of the received applications is currently underway. He said that steps are being taken to start Aadhar based e-KYC of the information provided by all beneficiaries with a purpose to make it transparent.
The process for allotment of new ration cards to eligible families will commence after completion of verification, he added.
The Minister has further informed that rice is being provided to 3,25,93,875 persons under the National Food Security Act in the State and 10,02,144 persons are getting rice under State Food Security Scheme.
