Bhubaneswar: Mohana police today arrested an undertrial prisoner who had escaped from prison during Maoist attack on R Udaygiri Sub Jail in Gajapati district in 2006.
The accused has been identified as Purna Chandra Malbisoyi of Malaspadar village under Mohana police limits.
Since then a non-bailable warrant was issued against Malbisoyi. Mohana police on being informed of his presence at Kirama village today pounced on him leading to his arrest.
According to reports, Maoists attacked and ransacked R Udayagiri police station and Sub Jail in Gajapati district on 24 March 2006.
At that time Malbisoyi was lodged in Gajapati Sub Jail as an undertrial prisoner in connection with a family dispute.
Taking advantage of the attack on the jail by Maoists, Malbisoyi along with some prisoners managed to escape from the jail.
