Bhubaneswar: Vigilance Special Judge, Phulbani today sentenced a former Accountant of Boudh District Treasury Office Narayan Mallick to three years rigorous imprisonment (RI) after convicting him for demanding and accepting illegal gratification.
The Special Judge also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on Mallick and in default of payment of the fine he has to undergo further RI for a period of three months.
The Court convicted Mallick for the offence under section 7 of the PC Amendment Act of 2018.
Mallick who is at present posted as Accountant, Sub Treasury Office, Baliguda in Kandhamal district was facing trial in a Vigilance case of 19 October 2019 under section 7 of the PC Amendment Act of 2018 for demanding and taking illegal gratification of Rs 5,000 from the complainant for processing and drawl of the bill towards unutilized leave salary.
