Accountant In Rajkanika BEO Office Arrested For Taking Rs 20K From SHG

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance arrested Md Firoz Khan, an accountant at the Block Education Officer’s (BEO) office in Rajkanika in Kendrapara district. Khan was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from a Self-Help Group (SHG) that had supplied school uniforms to schools in the area.

According to reports, Khan had demanded the bribe in exchange for passing a bill of Rs. 1.93 lakhs and releasing the balance amount to the SHG. The entire bribe amount of Rs 20,000 has been recovered and seized.

Following the trap, a search is being conducted at one place connected to Md Khan from the DA angle.

A case has been registered against Khan under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. The investigation is underway, and further details are awaited.
