Bhubaneswar: A youth in Ganjam returned a bagful of cash and other important documents that he found lying on the roadside to the police.
Suraj Maharana of Mathura village of Khallikote in Ganjam found the bag containing Rs 90,000 cash and other documents while he was returning to his village from Khallikote on Saturday.
When he opened the bag, he was shocked to find huge cash inside it.
Maharana, who works at a furniture outlet, immediately called his boss and then the police.
“While I was on my way to the village from Khallikote, I found a bag on the roadside and picked it up and checked. I found some medicine, documents and some bundles of cash. I immediately called my boss and took it to our office where we opened it and counted the cash. The counting was also videographed. Later, we called the police and handed it over to them”, Suraj said.
“I want the real owner get back the cash-filled bag,” he added.
The humanitarian gesture of the Suraj earned all-round appreciation from various quarters.
Police also lauded the act of honesty he showed. Police said that they hope everyone would emulate Suraj.
