Bhubaneswar: After the prawn processing unit of Falcon Marines at Khantapada was sealed and seven employees were arrested, Balasore Superintendent of Police (SP) Jugal Kishor Kumar Banoth said if prima facie evidence supports then necessary action will be taken against Tara Pattnaik, the owner of Falcon Marines.
Speaking to OMMCOM NEWS, SP Banoth said, “An investigation is underway for the alleged gas leak and details can only be revealed once the investigation is complete.” He said that they are trying to verify whether minors were employed at the prawns processing unit and that whether the factory administration was aware of the ammonia leak possibility but took no action.
Earlier, Tara Pattnaik, in his reaction to OMMCOM NEWS, had rubbished the claims of ammonia gas leak but blamed the accident on excess use of bleaching powder. He also squashed the reports claiming employment of minors at the said processing unit. Pattnaik had accused the media of creating unnecessary hype while he downplayed the accident.
