Bhubaneswar: The School & Mass Education (S&ME) Department of the Odisha government has initiated action against teachers remaining absent over long periods of time.
“The Department has already initiated the process for taking action against 96 teachers who have been identified for not turning out or have remained absent since long,” informed School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash speaking to reporters here today.
Giving an example of absenteeism by the aforementioned teachers, the Minister informed that there are many sikshya sahayaks who have not turned out for renewing their agreements with the District Collectors after lapsation of the same.
It is pertinent to mention here that a total of 24 teachers were disengaged from service by the District Collector in Nabarangpur for being on unauthorized absence for around 12 years.
The District Collector took the action on instructions of the S&ME Department.
