Bhubaneswar: Even as the party-hopping exercise continues ahead of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha, actor-turned-politician Akash Das Nayak joined the BJP on Sunday.

Akash was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Jajpur district’s Korei constituency on a BJD ticket in 2014.

Das Bayak joined the saffron brigade in the presence of the BJP state unit president Manmohan Samal and other leaders, including Sameer Mohanty, Pradeep Panigrahi, Sidhant Mohapatra and Arindam Ray at the party headquarters here.

On Saturday, the actor sent his resignation letter to the BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

After joining the BJP, Das Nayak said, “I joined the party inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a developed India. I joined the BJP for the overall development of Odisha.”
