Berhampur: Following media reports about school students crossing the flooded Jamugonda nullah in Patrapur block in Ganjam district with the help of a rope in absence of a bridge to reach their respective homes after attending school last Friday, the district administration has swung into action.
As per reports, the Ganjam Collector has sought a report from the Patrapur block administration on the issue. A team of the Patrapur block administration today visited the spot, inspected the area and discussed the issue with the villagers.
It will be submitting its reports to the district administration.
A steel bridge has been planned over the nullah, and till its completion, men will be deployed to ensure safe transit for the school students.
A proposal for construction of the steel bridge over the nullah has been submitted to the Rural Development Department, reports added.
While five tribal villages are located on the bank of Jamugonda nullah, nine are far away from it. People of these 14 villages cross the Jamugonda nullah for a variety of work.
