Bhubaneswar: The daughter-in-law of veteran BJD leader AU Singh Deo and wife of Arkesh Singh Deo, Adrija Manjari Singh Deo, today said that she will campaign against her brother-in-law Kalikesh Singh Deo who is contesting election from Bolangir Assembly constituency on BJD ticket.
At a press meet, Adrija expressed surprise over the ticket allotment to her brother-in-law by the BJD, who tortured her in the royal palace.
In 2019, she had brought allegations of domestic violence against her husband Arkesh, father-in-law AU Singhdeo, and brother-in-law Kalikesh.
Adrija today questioned the candidature of Kalikesh who allegedly tortured a woman in the house.
“Despite being aware of the torture inflicted on me by the royal family, how could CM Naveen Patnaik give a ticket to my husband’s family member,” she asked at a press meet.
“The Chief Minister is doing many things for the welfare of women. How a family earned a ticket from the BJD, which committed atrocities against a woman in their own house. The CM knows that the family tortured me,” she lamented.
Adrija announced that she would move every lane and by-lane of Bolangir and inform her ordeal before the public.
“What would happen to other tortured women in Bolangir when I am denied justice,” she asked.
Responding to Adrija’s allegation, her husband Arkesh said that she is making it an election issue at the behest of Bolangir MLA and Congress leader Narasingh Mishra.
“She is staying at the hotel of Narasingh Mishra in Bolangir and does whatever at the behest of him and his party workers,” Arkesh said.
Adrija had earlier lodged a domestic violence case against her husband Arkesh Narayan Singh Deo, father-in-law Ananga Udaya Singh Deo, mother-in-law Bijaylaxmi Devi, brother-in-law (her husband’s elder brother) Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo and sister-in-law (wife of her husband’s elder brother) Meghana Rana at Dehradun’s Rajpur police station.
Adrija Manjari is the granddaughter of former Prime Minister V.P. Singh.
