Bhadrak: Following a tubectomy procedure on Wednesday at Routrapur in Bhadrak, a woman passed away. The government-run family planning camp was organised at Barapada in the district on July 25 (Tuesday), where the deceased, Jayanti Bej, the daughter of Hrusikesh Bej, underwent surgery.
However, Jayanti reportedly experienced pain and tummy swelling shortly after the procedure. Her family members hurried her to the closest hospital, and when her health began to deteriorate, she was eventually transferred to Cuttack. On Wednesday, while receiving treatment in Cuttack, she passed away.
Her relatives said she passed away as a result of the surgeons severing her urinary system during a tubectomy that was carried out in the dark owing to a power outage. At the Bhadrak Rural Police Station, the deceased woman’s family members have filed a report on the occurrence.
“During operation, there was a power outage. Take her to Cuttack if the agony continues, the on-call doctor advised. But after the operation, she went back home. She experienced physical agony that same night. Thus, we first carried her to the hospital in Agarpada, then to Bhadrak, and finally to Cuttack, where she passed away,” according to Jayanti’s brother Kshirod Bej.
The medical authorities have denied claims that the deceased’s procedure resulted in the amputation of the urinary tract. “The accusations are incorrect as water had accumulated in her stomach, for which the woman was referred to SCB MCH in Cuttack,” a doctor said, adding that post-mortem report will unravel the reason behind her death.
