After IT Raid, Vigilance Raids On DFO’s House And Office

**Bhubaneswar:** Vigilance sleuths conducted raids on Khariar Deputy Conservator of Forest, Sarat Chandra Panda’s residence in Bhubaneswar and office at Khariar in Nuapada district on charges of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

“Search operations are still on. We have found some bank documents and LIC papers. The exact amount can be calculated only after the operation is over,” according to Shashi Bhusan Mishra, SP, Vigilance Department.

The Income tax officials had raided the office and house of the DFO on Wednesday on charges of tax evasion and hoarding of cash. They had seized cash worth Rs 6 lakhs.

“Acting on the tip-off of the IT officials, we raided his house in Bhubaneswar and office at Khariar Road. We discovered around Rs 4 crores of bank deposits in the name of the DFO and his relatives,” informed Juddhistir Mallik, Additional SP, Vigilance Department, Bhubaneswar.
