Bhubaneswar: The Nodal Officer system has proved very effective for data acquisition on the effectiveness and implementation of the various schemes running under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment.
According to an official press release, the Principal Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee has written a letter to all Nodal Officers to seriously work in this direction.
Since the Kharif season is in progress, the role and responsibility of Nodal Officers is of paramount importance.
It was decided in June last meeting that Nodal Officers would visit their respective districts and submit field inspection reports to the Department’s Principal Secretary by July 10.
Principal Secretary Dr Padhee has advised Nodal Officers to make easy availability of agriculture equipment, quality seeds, fertilizers and loans in the current Kharif season.
Due to the transfers and postings of some senior officers in the Department, the Nodal Officers have been reorganized in some districts. They will call a meeting at the district level to review the overall situation for the implementation of various government schemes in the area. The letter directed that they would prepare a report along with details of their visit and suggestions for appropriate study and inform the Deputy Chief Minister and Principal Secretary.
In this order, Director of Agriculture and Food Production Premchandra Chaudhary and Director of Horticulture Rohit Kumar Lenka have been deployed as Nodal Officers for Keonjhar and Jajpur districts; and for Angul and Dhenkanal districts respectively. Similarly, Special Secretary, Agriculture, Dillip Kumar Parida has been deployed as the Nodal Officer for Balangir and Sambalpur while Additional Secretary Sarita Dhanwar has been deployed as the Nodal Officer for Bhadrak district.
