Bhubaneswar: In view of the heavy rainfall followed by floods this month, the districts have been asked to remain watchful and alert on the crop-weather situation along with all preparedness to meet any eventuality.
In a letter to District Agriculture Officers, the Director, Agriculture and Food Production detailed the following guidelines:
– Disseminate the Crop Management Advisory issued by OUAT to the famers;
– Make famers awareness programme on for Kharif crop management after recede of flood or excess water on Do’s and Don’ts for flood situation;
-Follow the guideline of Disaster Management plan;
– Open the district level Control Room for monitoring and updating the flood situation;
– Advice the farmers to drain out the excess water from the crop field and held up the application of fertilizer and pesticide for the time being;
– Take immediate steps for surveillance and control of swarming caterpillar infestation in the paddy field;
– Inform the famers to contact “Aama Krushi” helpline (Toll free) No.155333 for any queries;
– Make the all the field functionaries to remain alert;
– Update the crop situation daily;
– Access the crop area and submit crop damage report after conducting joint survey; and
– Prepare the crop contingency plan for the alternate crop or varieties in the flood affected areas for the current kharif and submit it by 22 .08.2022;
