Gangster Sakil

Cuttack: Notorious gangster Sakil on Tuesday surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) City Court in connection with a case registered at Mangalabag police station. His surrender comes amid heightened surveillance by Commissionerate Police on professional criminals to ensure law and order in the city ahead of the festive season.

Two days ago, Sakil’s close aide Abdul Kadir was arrested by Mangalabag police for allegedly attacking a businessman and was later forwarded to court. Following the arrest, Sakil had gone into hiding but today voluntarily appeared before the court and gave himself up.

Police sources said his surrender is part of the broader crackdown on anti-social elements in Cuttack, where security measures have been intensified in view of the upcoming festivities.
