Puri: AI-generated videos and images of Lord Jagannath have gone viral on social media, triggering widespread outrage among devotees in Odisha.

The videos, which allegedly show milk being poured over the Deity in front of the Puri Srimandir using a crane, have been widely shared despite being entirely fabricated.

Devotees have expressed deep anguish over the content, calling it misleading and disrespectful to centuries-old traditions.

“These videos hurt the sentiments of millions of devotees. Such content has no place in our culture,” said a devotee.

The visuals were created using artificial intelligence and bear no resemblance to actual rituals performed at the temple.

Social media users have raised concerns over the viral nature of such content, calling for stricter monitoring of fake and provocative posts online.
