Baripada: Similipal Tiger Reserve in Mayurbhanj has successfully apprehended a poacher with the aid of an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled camera. Ranjan Behera, son of Indramani Behera from Manikpur (Redhasahi), was caught red-handed with a country-made firearm, ammunition, and hunting gear inside the reserve.

The AI camera captured images of the poacher, which were then used to track and arrest him. This advanced surveillance technology has significantly enhanced the reserve’s ability to detect and prevent poaching attempts.

The accused has been forwarded to the court of the CJM, Baripada, and sent to judicial custody after bail rejection. An FIR will be lodged against the accused person at Udala Police Station for violation of the Arms Act, 1959.
