Bhubaneswar: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, celebrated its 13th Annual Day with a grand event on Sunday, showcasing a year of remarkable achievements in healthcare, digital innovation, and academic excellence.

The occasion was graced by Dr. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, the first Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, who attended as the Chief Guest. He lauded the institution’s significant contributions to transforming medical care in eastern India.

Dr. Biswas also announced the upcoming addition of several key facilities at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, including liver transplantation services and a skin bank, for the benefit of the public.

This year, the institute provided health consultations to over 11 lakh out-patients and admitted more than 45,000 in-patients. Additionally, over 26 lakh ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) digital health records were successfully linked, and more than 17,000 blood donors registered—marking notable milestones in the institute’s service record.

AIIMS Bhubaneswar also achieved a significant rise in national rankings. It was ranked 14th in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, a remarkable improvement from its 31st position in 2021. Furthermore, it was ranked the 2nd Best Emerging Medical College in the India Today-MDRA Survey 2025—a noteworthy accomplishment in itself.

The celebration featured the inauguration of the institute’s annual souvenir, “The Insight”, along with a vibrant series of cultural and academic programmes, where participants were felicitated with awards and recognitions.
