Bhubaneswar: AIIMS Bhubaneswar observed Vigilance Awareness Week with a series of programmes aimed at promoting ethical values, transparency, and integrity among employees, students, and the wider community. As part of the initiative, the institute also organised a Grama Sabha in a nearby village to spread awareness on vigilance and responsible public conduct.
Reaffirming its commitment to honesty and good governance, AIIMS Bhubaneswar conducted diverse activities throughout the week, including a Walkathon, a Capacity Building Programme for Newly Joined Employees, a Grama Sabha/Outreach Programme, and a Capacity Building Programme for Students. The events were designed to integrate ethical behaviour into daily life while maintaining the institution’s core focus on quality healthcare delivery.
The observance began with the Integrity Pledge Ceremony, administered in the presence of Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director, along with Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida (Medical Superintendent), Dr. Satyajeet Mishra (Dean, Research), Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohanty (Chief Vigilance Officer), senior faculty, and staff members.
The week concluded with a sensitization talk and valedictory ceremony attended by Soumendra Priyadarshi, Additional Director General of Police (Modernisation), who graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In his keynote address, he emphasised the need for ethical conduct, transparency, and robust vigilance systems in public institutions. His message encouraged participants to uphold integrity in both their personal and professional lives.
The valedictory function was attended by senior officials including Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, Dr. P. R. Mohapatra (Dean), Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohanty (CVO), Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida (MS), and Lt. Col. Abhijit Sarkar (DDA).
An awards ceremony was also held to felicitate winners of the Quiz Competition and Poster Design Competition, recognising their creativity and contribution to spreading vigilance awareness.
The programme ended with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Padmalochan Swain, Assistant Engineer (Civil), Vigilance Cell, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organisers for their support and active participation.
