Ailing Tigress Sara Dies At Nandankanan Zoo

Bhubaneswar: A 19-year-old white tigress Sara died after battling age-related health issues at her enclosure in Nandankanan Zoological Park on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar in the wee hours of Thursday, sources said.

The tigress was suffering from old-age-related ailment. She has stopped eating for the last few days and was under medication, sources said.

Sara was brought to the zoo in an animal exchange programme from Bhopal Zoo in 2009. A white tigress was sent to Bhopal Zoo in return. The number of tigers comes down to 26 following the death of Sara.
