Bhubaneswar: In a bizarre incident, Air India Express left Bhubaneswar-bound passengers stranded for hours in Kolkata after the flight made an emergency landing in Kolkata due to bad weather conditions on Thursday night.

The flight was scheduled to land in Bhubaneswar but was diverted to Netaji Subhash Airport in Kolkata owing to inclement weather. What is, however, shocking is that the passengers of the Air India Express flight were asked by the airline staff to go to Bhubaneswar at their own expense.

The action of the Air India authorities forced several hapless passengers, including children, the elderly, and women, to spend several hours at the airport.

According to reports, the Delhi-Bhubaneswar Air India Express flight took off from Delhi airport on Thursday evening but could not land in Bhubaneswar due to bad weather. As a result, the flight was diverted to the Netaji Subhash Airport in Kolkata.

After the flight landed in Kolkata the Air India Express staff told the Bhubaneswar-bound passengers that they would have to go to Bhubaneswar on their own. However, after an outrage by the passengers, the Air India management arranged a flight for the passengers and flew them back to Bhubaneswar.
