Air Odisha Ex-Staffer ‘Rape’ Case: Victim Records Statement In Court, Police Probes Delay In FIR Filing

**Bhubaneswar:** In the rape allegations against Air Odisha Director Santosh Pani, the reason behind the delay in FIR filing by the victim is also being investigated informed Twin City Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty today.

He said, “Along with the probing of her medical examination and the audio-visual statement recorded at the Capital police station, we are also looking into the reason behind the victim’s delay in filing the FIR. That is an important angle that has to be considered before arresting anyone.”

Reportedly on September 19, rape allegations were levelled against Air Odisha Director Santosh Pani by an ex-staffer of the airline at the Khandagiri Police Station. The girl, who had joined the airline as a security supervisor in July this year, alleged that the accused had committed the heinous crime twice- once in her joining month by drugging her and the next time in August at a friend’s house. Soon after, she resigned from her job at the airline and went back to her home in Kolkata.

The Police Commissioner informed, “The places of the crime are being investigated as well. Along with that, we are also looking into the Call Details Record (CDR), and the joining and resignation documents of the ex-staffer.”

Meanwhile, the victim’s statement has been recorded before the judicial magistrate yesterday in the Bhubaneswar Court under section 164 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), informed Mohanty.

In conclusion, he said, “The ex-employee has not filed complaint against anyone else. The several other names that have been mentioned in the FIR filed by her will be considered as internal administration matters of the company and prima facie no offence can be pointed at any of those names.”
