Bhubaneswar: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has constituted separate committees to find out the reasons of poor performance in the recently-concluded elections in several States including Odisha.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has set a team comprising senior party leaders Ajay Maken and Tariq Anwar to assess the reasons of the poor show in Odisha where Lok Sabha and Assembly elections were held simultaneously.

Kharge has set up six committees to assess the party’s poor performance in some states including Karnataka, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh where the party is in power, besides in Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and Uttarakhand where it drew a blank in the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections.

“Congress president has constituted the fact-finding committees to assess the poor performance of the party in the following states, in the recently concluded general elections, with immediate effect,” AICC general secretary, Organisation, K C Venugopal said in a statement.

In the just-concluded elections in Odisha, the Congress has managed to retain its Koraput Lok Sabha seats while all other constituencies went to the BJP account. Similarly, the party remained in distant third securing only 14 seats in the 147-member Assembly.
