Kandhamal: Alert Border Security Force (BSF) jawans of the 99-Battalion recovered improvised explosive devices (IED) during a combing operation in the forested area of Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Wednesday thereby foiling an attack by the outlawed Maoist cadres.
Acting on a tip-off, the BSF jawans launched a search operation from COB Pahireju in the forested area near Tilkapanga village under Gocchapada police limits in the district.
In coordination with the local police team, the BSF personnel moved to the designated area and conducted an extensive search operation that led to the recovery of a powerful IED. They immediately pressed the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) in service and the IED was neutralized.
The timely and effective collaboration between the BSF and local police thereby helped to avoid a major subversive activity by the Maoists ahead of the Phase IV elections in Odisha on Saturday.
