Bhubaneswar: After a high level review meeting with Central Telecom and Power Secretaries here at the State Secretary, Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi announced that all the banks in cyclone FANI-ravaged Puri district will resume functioning from today evening.
Briefing media soon after the significant meeting, the Odisha Chief Secretary informed, “All banks in Puri district will be functional from today. Most of them have been functional and the rest of the banks in Puri district will start functional by today evening.”
“Wherever there is no internet connection, those banks will do work on offline mode. Later on they will update their data by syncing it,” he added.
He also informed, “One more demand of Odisha Government made today was that of the Puri Gramya Bank, in which includes the shares of Odisha Government, Government of India and Indian Overseas Bank. All its branches have been affected in the recent cyclone. Hence, today we also requested for a special restoration package before the Joint Secretary of Banking & Financial Services.”
Detailing on today’s review meeting, the Odisha Chief Secretary said, “Government of India’s Secretary of Power Shri Ajay Bhalla, who is also in charge of Secretary of Telecom, and Additional Secretary Shri Anshu Prakash, Department of Financial Services Joint Secretary and also senior officers from various public sector undertakings today attended the meeting.”
“Today a review in detail on the Power sector, the Telecom sector and the Financial Services and Banking sector was done. Thorough discussions were also made on the restoration plan that has been chalked out, particularly on Power sector,” he added.
