Her brother, Tularam Nayak alleged that Ramani was administered O -ve blood while her actual blood group was B -ve. “This negligence by the nursing home staff led to my sister’s death,” he stated.

The family hails from Debadihi village. Ramani was admitted to the nursing home by her brother and husband Rohit Pandey on August 20. A case has been registered in this connection by Sadar police.

Superintendent of Police Bikash Chandra Dash said, “We have sought a report from the CDMO in this regard. Investigation will progress after we receive the CDMO’s probe report.”

On the other hand, the nursing home authorities remained tight-lipped. “Since the matter is under investigation, it will be inappropriate to comment on this,” an official of the nursing home stated.
