Jharsuguda: Alliance Air is all set to start its flight operations from Veer Surendra Sai Airport (VSSA) here from June 1 and is slated to connect with Odisha capital city Bhubaneswar as well as Chhattisgarh’s capital city Raipur and West Bengal’s Kolkata.
This was officially informed by Jharsuguda Airport’s Director Sudesh Kumar Chauhan.
Speaking to media, Chauhan said that the airliner was awarded three routes under RCS UDAN scheme 3.0 i.e. Bhubaneswar, Raipur and Kolkata to connect Jharsuguda.
He also informed that the flying time to both these capital cities (Bhubaneswar and Raipur) from Jharsuguda would be approximately one hour which otherwise takes more than six to ten hours by rail.
“The airline shall operate ATR-72 type of aircraft on these routes which can carry up to 72 passengers. The flight from Bhubaneswar shall land at 10:10 hours (10.10 am) and depart after a brief stopover of 25 minutes to Bhubaneswar at 10:35 hours (10.35 am). Similarly, Raipur flight will be touching Jharsuguda airfield at 18:15 hours (6.15 pm) and depart from here at 18:40 hours (6.40 pm),” informed the Jharsuguda Airport Director.
The Airport Director also informed that Alliance Air has already set up their ticket booking counter at the airport and shifted most of the equipment required for smooth operations of the flight.
He further informed that the flight operation time to Kolkata has not yet been finalized.
