Jharsuguda: After SpiceJet, Alliance Air started its operations at Veer Surendra Sai Airport (VSSA) here from today with flights connecting Bhubaneswar and Raipur.
While the airliner was scheduled to start its operations at the airport from June 1, under Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) 3.0, it was delayed due to some official reasons.
Jharsuguda MLA-cum-Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das, Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Usha Padhee, graced the inaugural function of the flight operations.
Speaking to mediapersons, MP Pujari said, “It will be our efforts in coming days to make Jharsuguda Airport the number 1 in Odisha. He further said he will request the authorities of Air India and Ministry of Civil Aviation to start flight operations from the city to Bengaluru and Mumbai.
A passenger on his way to Raipur expressed his joy stating earlier it was a pathetic journey from Bhubaneswar to Raipur, but now he can experience a hassle-free travel at an affordable cost.
