Bhubaneswar: The State government will soon rename the ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ scheme as ‘Bikasit Gaan Bikasit Odisha’, the guidelines of which will be released within two days.
Panchayatiraj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik today said that panchayat representatives will be empowered to carry out the welfare activities. The Palli Sabha will decide on the implementation of the developmental works.
“The developmental works in Gram Panchayats will run in the name of ‘Bikasit Gaan, Bikasit Odisha’. The Palli Sabha or Gram Sabha will decide the development of the road, school, embankment, cultural activities, and sports in villages. We have formulated the guidelines of the scheme. The panchayat representatives will be empowered to implement the developmental works,” Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Naik said.
The former government had given Collector power to sarpnach during Covid time and later curtailed the power. But, the government led by Mohan Majhi will work as per the proposal of the people and empower the local representatives, said the Minister.
The Ama Odisha Naveen Odisha scheme was approved by the State Cabinet chaired by former chief minister Naveen Patnaik in August 2023, months before the Assembly election.
