Bhubaneswar: Amarda Road (Rasgovindapur) airstrip will be operationalised soon.
The proposal to renovate the Amarda Road (Rasgovindapur) airstrip for future operations under the UDAN Scheme will be realized soon and it will be developed as a commercial airport with the acquisition of more land area and necessary infrastructure, Minister of Commerce and Transport Bibhuti Bhusan Jena said.
Minister Jena had elaborate discussions with Minister of Housing and Urban Development Krushna Chandra Mohapatra regarding the airstrip.
Amarda Road airstrip is a former wartime airfield located near Rasgovindpur in the Mayurbhanj district. Built in the 1940s, it has an 11,000-foot concrete runway.
According to an official press release, Minister Jena reviewed the progress of work at the airstrip and urged on the earliest completion of necessary formalities. Besides, the all-round development of Jharsuguda Airport was also discussed in the presence of Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy.
