Bhubaneswar: An ambulance carrying a patient caught fire on the national highway near Pipili Selfie Point in Puri last night.
According to sources, the ambulance, which was on its way from Delanga to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, suddenly developed a short circuit, causing the fire. Fortunately, the driver quickly stopped the vehicle and evacuated the patient and relatives to safety.
Upon being informed, the fire brigade team arrived promptly and extinguished the flames.
The patient, who had been bitten by a snake, was later shifted to another ambulance and taken to the hospital for treatment.
