Amid Covid Crisis, Odisha Police Exchanged Fire With Naxals In Bargarh

Bhubaneswar: While maintaining law and order amid the tough times of COVID-19 and when thousands of migrants are coming to the State every day, Odisha Police has also been serving its duty of combating Naxal menace.

An example of which is an exchange of fire between DVF team of Bargarh and Mahasamud platoon of Bargarh and Mahasamund (BBM) division of the CPI (Maoist) on May 26, 2020 at the outskirts of Sukalterma village under Melchhamunda police limits.

During combing operation in the area, the security forces were attacked by the Naxal platoon of seven cadres led by wanted Maoist leader Pravin.

In response to their firing, the DVF team fired back forcing the Maoists to flee. The team recovered an INSAS rifle magazine with 14 rounds of live bullets, some Maoist posters and other ration items from the spot.
