**Bhubaneswar: ** The three-member committee formed by BJP’s national president Amit Shah to probe into the alleged gang rape case at Kunduli in Koraput district has arrived here on Saturday morning.
The committee is led by BJP national general secretary Saroj Pande comprises Lok Sabha members Jyoti Dhurve and Anju Bala. They will visit Kunduli and submit a report to Shah.
According to Jyoti Dhurve, “There should be a CBI enquiry in this case. The minor girl should get justice and action should be taken against those who have failed in their duty. The State Government is trying to cover up the whole episode. At one time, it is said that there was rape and at other time, the report says that there was no rape at all. We will visit the spot, make the necessary enquiry and submit it to our national president on 5th of this month.”
“Let me visit the spot and then only I can talk to you about this issue,” replied Saroj Pande to media persons when she was asked about the involvement of the central para military jawans in the Kunduli incident.
Shah ordered for a party probe into the matter after he was apprised of the incident and the alleged ‘cover-up’ of the State government by national BJP general secretary Arun Singh. Condemning the incident, Shah criticised the State Government for its failure to provide justice to the family of the minor girl.
Taking note of the recent development, Pramila Mallick, President, BJD Mahila Morcha, said, “Why is BJP eyeing on Odisha? There are so many incidents of gang-rape and child atrocities across the country. The BJP never takes any step for those incidents. CM Naveen Patnaik has taken all possible measures to render justice to that girl.”
It should be noted that senior politician like Pratab Deb mused over the BJP demanding a CBI probe when the Centre can do it easily since the allegation made by the victim was against four central para military jawans.
