Bhubaneswar: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the new Rayagada railway division in Odisha, the Central government announced the appointment of its first Divisional Railway Manager (DRM).
In an official letter issued by the Railway Board on Tuesday, Amitabh Singhal, NFHAG/IRSEE/ICF, has been transferred from the South Coast Railway and appointed as DRM for the Rayagada division under the East Coast Railway (ECoR). The Railway Ministry confirmed that the appointment was approved by the President of India.
The move marks a significant step towards operationalizing the new railway division and accelerating infrastructure development in the region.
Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Rayagada division building via video conferencing from Jammu on Monday. The newly established division will oversee railway operations across several southern Odisha districts, including Rayagada, Koraput, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, and Kalahandi.
This division is expected to play a vital role in improving connectivity and fostering development in tribal and aspirational districts. Its strategic location makes it a critical asset for enhancing Odisha’s railway network and supporting the region’s economic growth.
