Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi praised Anandpur as an ancient and historically significant town that holds a unique place in the state’s religious and cultural traditions.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the Anandpur Mahotsav, CM Majhi said, “Anandpur has earned fame as a prominent town since ancient times. It occupies a special position in Odisha’s religious heritage.” He lauded the rich art, culture, and legacy of the Anandpur region.
Describing the sacred land situated on the banks of the holy Baitarani river as a shining example of religious harmony and cultural heritage, the Chief Minister emphasized its spiritual importance.
He further stated that the Anandpur Mahotsav is not just a festival, but a powerful platform to bring rural and folk culture to the forefront. “Through this festival, hidden talents are being identified and traditional folk dances and folk music are being preserved,” he added.
Focusing on the overall development of Keonjhar district, CM Majhi informed that the North Odisha Development Council has been constituted to accelerate progress in northern Odisha. He said efforts are underway to establish a mega steel plant in Keonjhar, with the goal of transforming the district into a major industrial hub.
The Chief Minister announced that the Keonjhar-Barbil-Joda region will be developed as a powerful economic corridor of the state. Several infrastructure projects including a Data Centre, Textile Park, Stadium, and road development have already been initiated in the district to drive comprehensive growth.
On this occasion, CM Majhi made a significant announcement: an Indoor Stadium and a Football Stadium will be constructed in Anandpur very soon. “Whatever funds are required for the construction of these stadiums will be fully borne by the state government,” he declared.
While speaking about women and the empowerment of the poor, the Chief Minister highlighted several government schemes including ‘Mukhyamantri Annapurna’, ‘Kanya Bibaha’, and ‘Kanya Sumangal’ Yojana. He said these initiatives will ensure social and economic security for poor families.
During the festival, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for 41 development projects worth Rs 267.50 crore and dedicated 14 projects worth Rs 34.15 crore to the public.
MLA Siddhant Mahapatra, while addressing the gathering, said Anandpur holds a special place in his heart. Comparing his birthplace in Ganjam district to Debaki and Koenjhar to Mother Yashoda, he described Anandpur as a place of joy and immense potential.
The event was attended by Telkoi MLA Dr Fakir Mohan Naik, Digapahandi MLA Siddhant Mohapatra, Keonjhar District Collector Vishal Singh, Anandpur Sub-Collector Nilamadhab Suna, Anandpur Mahotsav Committee member Ramachandra Sahu, and a large number of local residents.
