Jeypore: Amid the ongoing border dispute between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, the neighbouring State officials today organised a free health camp in a village in the controversial Kotia region in Koraput district.

The health camp was organised at Naredibalasa village in Kotia amid deployment of forces. As many as 430 people from around 12 villages attended the camp and got their health check-ups.

The camp was held under the Jagananna Arogya Suraksha programme, a healthcare scheme of Andhra Government.

Medical staff from Saluru mandal of Andhra Pradesh organised the camp under the direct supervision of Andhra ST Commission chairperson Dr DV Shankar Rao.

They examined the health of local people and distributed medicine free of cost.

The local administration was, however, unaware of the development.

The Andhra officials’ intrusion is nothing new. Earlier, the neighouring State had organised several camps in Odisha territories and distributed freebies.

Last week, the health officials of Andhra had also held a similar health camp at Galigabadar village under Nuagaon panchayat in Pottangi block of Koraput. Later, They were forced to return after the intervention by block chairperson Kalpana Pangi.
