Koraput: An Anganwadi worker was killed in a buffalo attack in Phampuni village under Jeypore Sadar police limits in Koraput district today.
The deceased Anganwadi worker has been identified as Brundabati Paraja.
According to reports, Brundabati along with her husband Purna Paraja and a three-year-old son was going to a temple at Phampuni’s Hatapada on a bike when she was attacked by a buffalo which charged from a lane adjoining the road.
Brundabati slipped off the bike and her head hit the road. She was rushed to District Headquarters Hospital at Jeypore in an ambulance. However, she was declared dead by the doctors at the hospital.
She is survived by her husband and three children. Her husband Purna is a small farmer.
A pall of gloom descended in the area as news spread about Brundabati’s death.
