Angul: In a shocking incident, a man on Saturday allegedly bludgeoned his 70-year-old mother to death with a club at Ghosara Mugamala Sahi under Kishorenagar police limits in Angul district.
The deceased has been identified as Pankajini Pradhan. The accused identified as Abani Pradhan has been arrested by then police.
According to reports, as Pankajini refused to hand over the money she had received as old age pension to her son-Abani, the latter bludgeoned her to death with a club. Abani then buried his mother’s body in a defunct abandoned well in the backyard of their house.
On getting news about the horrific incident, deceased Pankajini’s brother Manoj of Khiriakani village lodged a written complaint with Kishorenagar police.
On the basis of the complaint, police made a spot visit and have arrested Abani while process was underway to exhume Pankajini’s body from the abandoned well.
