Bhubaneswar: The Angul police have arrested a man on charges of duping a person of Rs 1 crore. The accused had allegedly taken Rs 1 crore from the complainant for arranging an MBBS seat for the latter’s son.
The person promised to arrange a seat in a reupted medical college but he did not. The accused went untraceable with the money, the police said. Angul police registered a case under Section 420 of the IPC and arrested the accused from from Silipur under Marshaghai police limits in Kendrapara.
Three mobile phones and an expensive laptop were seized from his possession. The same person had cheated another person in 2017 for arranging a medical seat for the latter’s daughter, the police added.
The accused has been arrested and was forwarded to the Court of SDJM, Angul today.
