Bhubaneswar: Angul police have seized property worth Rs 1.73 crore belonging to a ganja trader of Chhendipada following the order by Competent Authority and Administrator (NDPS), Kolkata.
Angul police had registered a FIR in this matter in August 2021, and initiated financial investigation in the assets of a professional ganja mafia of Sapoinali village. The accused in this case is on the run, the police said.
During a raid on his house on on November 27, cash of Rs 20.50 lakh, three 4-wheelers, one tractor, two motorcycles, one paddy thresher, one paper plate manufacturing machine, one Rotary Tiller, three DG (Generator) sets, Savings Bank Pass Books and papers of landed properties were seized.
“After proper tracing and identification of illegally acquired properties, the Freezing / Seizing order, U/s 68-F of NDPS Act, 1985 was passed by IIC, Chhendipada and sent to the Competent Authority and Administrator (NDPS Act), Kolkata for approval,” a senior police official said.
The order for freezing the illegally earned assets by the habitual drug trafficker were issued by the Authority on January 4.
